Kurnell Sprint Series - Race 1.
Sunday 25th November 2007
The first of the Kurnell Sprint races was on Sunday with another large showing from the Bondi Fit crew. It was particularly great to see some of the girls from the recently completed Beginners Course out there giving it a whirl. It was also good to see so many from Noosa giving it a good bash, and it was good to see so many come away with a positive race after what was for most, quite a forgettable Noosa this year.
The conditions were practically perfect for this first Kurnell with a calm swim, almost no wind on the bike, and that same run - god I hate that grass hill!
With some of you now getting some good times in great conditions, the pressure will now be on over the remaining 3 races to see how much that you can improve your time. I saw many out there with particulalry ordinary transitions, so this will be something that I will be focusing on in the Saturday brick sessions. Remember, this is free time and is so easy to improve in with just a little bit of practice. This is where the BRAT races are such great practice for small things like that. Also, for the gilrs I noticed alot of people swimming off course with the strong tidal current moving left to right. Who noticed this by watching the first wave? It is as simple as looking up more often, and is a great skill to practice in our surf swims. Keep in mind for those new to open water swimming or those too scare of surf, we are now running a Clovelly swim purely for beginners on Friday nights at 7pm and judging by the way some of you swam I would be adding this to your program immediately!
Thanks to the great photography from Julia Fung who gave up her morning to come out and cheer you all on and take the great photos that you see underneath. Thanks again Fungie!!
